We understand that privacy is really important. So we have prepared this privacy policy to fill you in on who we are, what information we collect, how we use that information and how you can find out more about the personal information that we collect about you.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time, but we will let you know if we do.
So who are we?
The Wenzani service is brought you by Fourforty, Inc, a company incorporated in Delaware, United States of America, which is part of the Lonely Planet and BBC Worldwide family of companies.
What do we collect and why do we collect it?
Wenzani is a location based service. So when you use Wenzani, Fourforty will automatically collect and record (on our servers) certain information from your browser or mobile platform. This information includes your location, IP address (an IP address is a number that can uniquely identify a specific computer or other network device on the internet or via wireless technology), operating system, cookie information and the page on the Wenzani service you have requested. You can turn off location based services via the 'Settings' option on your mobile phone, but note if you do this and you want to continue to use Wenzani, you will need to manually enter your desired destination.
You can access Wenzani via Facebook or Twitter, in which case we will import your basic account information (ie your user name, email, home town and profile picture URL) via an application interface. In addition to this, in order to run the Wenzani service, we will also collect your device identifier and operating system information.
You can also access Wenzani as a 'guest', in which case we will only collect your device identifier and IP address.
We collect this information for the following purposes:
- to enable you to use the full functionality of Wenzani;
- to allow you to share your experiences and recommendations with fellow users;
- so you can contact users to ask questions (or answer questions from other users);
- to manage our competitions and contact winners; and
- to personalise or improve the way Wenzani content is presented to you (see the section on "What about cookies?" for more information).
We may also collect information about individuals involved in businesses, and this is mainly for preparing listings in the Wenzani application.
What about 'cookies'?
A "cookie" is a small message given to your web browser by our web server. The browser stores the message in a text file, and the message is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server. We use cookies in Wenzani to tailor pages of the application to your needs. This may include recording what region of the world you are from so we don't make the mistake of recommending places in Marrakesh when you're in San Francisco, for example!
This privacy policy covers use of cookies by Fourforty and our service providers. Fourforty uses Google Analytics , which in turn uses cookies to allow us to analyse and improve the services offered by the Wenzani application, e.g. to provide you with the most user-friendly navigation experience. The Google Analytics cookie may collect information such as time of your visit, the pages you visited, how much time you spent on each page, your IP address and location, and the type of operating system you used to access the Wenzani application. Rest assured, this information is not used to develop a personal profile of you, and Google Analytics does not use this information for its own purposes. We do not match cookies to your registration details (that is, if you are registered with us) and we do not use cookies to track your movements after leaving the Wenzani application. If you prefer, you can opt-out of the Google Analytics cookie by using its browser plugin.
Note that while you can turn off cookies, doing this will restrict your use of the Wenzani application.
Security
The security of your personal information is important. Fourforty has in place proper security measures to protect your personal information.
You tell who?
We may share personal information amongst companies in the Fourforty family (namely, Lonely Planet Publications Pty Ltd, BBC Worldwide Limited, and their related entites) . We may also disclose that information to contractors who help us put Fourforty products and services together and services and, where relevant, to our business partners who assist us in providing these products and services, or to successors in title to our business. This may involve transferring your data from one country to another. By giving us personal information through Fourforty products or services (such as Wenzani) or communicating with us, you acknowledge and agree to our use of your data on a global basis, but if you have any concerns about this please let us know.
If legal or health and safety issues arise we may also have to make disclosures to relevant organisations to deal with these matters.

You generally have a right to access the personal information Fourforty holds about you (although there are exceptions).
